WHAT IS THE SCRIP PROGRAM?
The scrip program is a method of fundraising that is used by many organizations. By purchasing “gift certificates" from grocery stores in quantity, we receive a discount on the total cost of these certificates. The exchange rate for you on the scrip you purchase is 100%, dollar for dollar. It is treated as CASH and may be used for ANY merchandise you normally purchase in the chain of stores in which it is issued. The scrip denominations are as follows: GIANT @ $10, $25 or $50; SHOPPERS @ $10, $25 or $50. Giant now uses a debit card in the amounts listed above; Shoppers still uses the paper scrip.
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
The program operates on a two-week cycle: an order week followed by a pick-up week. If you wish to buy scrip, you place an order by delivering a check made payable to WHS MBC in a SCRIP envelope to the AREA COORDINATOR closest to you. For your convenience, the coordinators and Scrip schedule are listed on the next page. You may include checks from your friends or family in your envelope; please put your student's name on the memo line. All orders must be delivered to the coordinators by SUNDAY of the order week. Your order form will specify which store you would like to purchase from, and the denominations you desire. You may mix your order between the two stores. You will receive scrip in the exact amount of your check. The following week you can pick up your scrip from your coordinator on WEDNESDAY. Give a call first, to make sure its there, and they are home. Your order will include a new envelope for your next scrip order. Many people prefer to place their next order at the same time they pick up their scrip.
HOW DOES THIS BENEFIT MY STUDENT?
When the scrip chairman purchases the entire order they will receive a discount on the total price--4% at Giant and 5% at Shoppers. The profits are then applied to your student's trip account. You are welcome to have anyone (family, friends, neighbors, etc.) purchase scrip from you. Your profit is based upon your total sale dollars.
