Support the Westfield Guitar ProgramDownload the Donation Request Form Did you know…students who participate in high-quality music programs score higher on standardized tests, have a high graduation rate, and learn skills that will make them a more productive part of the workforce? (visit www.menc.org for more information) Did you know…Westfield High School has an award-winning guitar program, and dozens of area families are involved? The Westfield High School Guitar Booster Organization supports this award-winning program. We not only provide the manpower needed for various events, we also help to provide and maintain instruments and equipment not covered by the public school budget, and we provide ways for students to earn money to fund their annual spring trip to competitions in other parts of the country. In 2008 this trip took us to the Performing Arts Consultants National Freedom Festival in New York. All of our ensembles took first place in their categories! While in New York, students had the opportunity to attend a guitar clinic given by a professional musician. They visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Empire State Building, as well as attending the Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera. These trips are not funded by the FCPS budget and generally cost each student $500 or more. We will be conducting several fundraising activities throughout the school year. Our efforts would not be a success without help from our community. We are asking local businesses to help us by making a monetary, gift certificate or merchandise donation to our program. We will use gift certificate and merchandise donations for our various fundraising activities throughout the year. If you would like to be known as a friend of music education, if you would like to be associated with this winning community program, please consider making a donation. Not only will our students benefit, we’ll see to it, via our web site and concert programs, that people know that you’re an integral part of our shared community. Thank you so much for your consideration. Sincerely, Bonnie Cowdery, President |
