About UsThe Westfield High School Guitar program was founded the year that Westfield High School opened and has grown to over 125 guitarists. Four levels of instruction are offered, ranging from beginner level to the level of performing ensembles for both jazz and classical music. Guitars are supplied for all students during the school day. Purchasing or renting a guitar is recommended for at-home practice. Students in selected groups may participate in many activities during the year including: fund raisers, local field trips, regional travel for competitions (Atlanta, Memphis, Chicago), winter and spring concerts at WHS, local master classes, performances by invitation (such as the Fairfax County Library and the Fairfax County School Board). Beginning students may sign up for Guitar I or may request an audition with the director, Mr. Ken Hall, if they wish to be considered for placement in a higher level class.
